James and Juanita Pittman of Jennings are celebrating their 70th Wedding Anniversary on October 10, 2018. They were married on October 10, 1948 in Jasper, Florida. They have lived and celebrated their life together and have been deeply devoted to each other throughout these past 70 years. James first met Juanita Holton nearly 75 years ago when his family bought a farm across from Holton's family farm on the Alapaha River. They would meet and talk across the cattle gap. James would escort Juanita to school socials, and finally after about year and half, James found the courage to ask her on a date. They would double date with friends and when Juanita was a senior, James asked her to marry him. He then asked her parents' permission and they said yes, if he thought he could get along with her and James said "no problem". The rest is history, as they say. James and Juanita had four beautiful children, and now have 12 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. They have been lifelong members of New Hope Baptist Church and have been a true inspiration of faith and love to their family and friends. They are still extremely loving and devoted to each other and even though Juanita resides in Suwannee Valley Nursing Home, they see each other almost every day. James says "It doesn't seem it has been that long at all."
